RAMALLAH, October 20, 2016 (WAFA) – The killing of a Palestinian young woman by Israeli forces following an alleged stabbing attempt at the Nablus district checkpoint of Zaatara hit the front page headlines in Palestinian dailies.
The three dailies reported a young Palestinian woman at the Nablus district checkpoint of Zaatara.
Al-Quds said the slain woman, identified as 23-year-old Rahiq Birawi, came from the Nablus village of Asira al-Shamaliya, while al-Ayyam explained that she was killed purportedly for attempting to stab a soldier.
Al-Quds also highlighted clashes between Israeli soldiers and Palestinians in the vicinity of the Nablus refugee camp of Balata in the main front page news article.
It said Israeli forces shot and injured a Palestinian young man during a raid that sparked clashes into the camp. A soldier was also injured during the clashes.
Not only did al-Ayyam spotlighted the killing of the young women, but it also spotlighted West Bank detention raids in its main front page news article.
It reported Israeli occupation forces detained five Palestinian young men following clashes near the Ramallah town of Nilin.
Al-Quds reported Israeli military as announcing the five detainees allegedly formed a “cell” that targeted a military vehicle near the town.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida added a total of 25 Palestinians were detained during raids Tuesday night and dawn Wednesday across the West Bank, mostly from Jerusalem.
Highlighting tensions and tightened restrictions on Palestinian movement across Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, al-Quds said thousands of Israeli Jewish settlers took to the streets and alleys of the Old City of Jerusalem.
Al-Ayyam explained hundreds of settlers forced their way into the mosque compound, (heeding calls by extremist organizations to increase Jewish presence on the holy site during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot).
Highlighting the imminent forced displacement of Palestinians, al-Quds said the Palestinian Bedouin community of Abu Hindi are caught between the rock of Israeli forced displacement and the hard place of Israeli plan to relocate them.
Al-Ayyam reported the United Nations as announcing 2.3 million Palestinians are in need of humanitarian assistance.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said contaminated Israeli food products are being exported to Palestinian markets.
